Bhim leaves, saying that Puran does come in this circle for him, but Ramji says that for him Puran does not come in this. The neighbours even tell Rama to go talk some sense into Bhim because Puran does not come in their family circle.

Rama sitting with Bhim Rao shouts that at first wished he should keep fighting but after Ramji has been terrified then she also wants him to stay back. Bhim Rao says he has heard that if they obtain permission to have a letter signed by the lawyer then it may happen, he feels this is the correct approach to meet Puran jee. Rama asks if nothing else means to him even the stress of Ramji and even people who are near to him, Bhim Rao answers that everything counts but a guy who is sitting in prison without any offence with the expectation that someone would fight for his justice, therefore he will do it, Rama thinks Bhim should let the subject settle off a little and then consider what he would do, Bhim Rao shuts all of his books, and sitting alongside Rama declares he is not fighting for any selfish motives. Bhim Rao comes back to Rama who says if he departs then it would be like breaking the heart of everyone, Bhim Rao cries they should sleep so they both lay down n their beds to sleep. Rama goes to sleep but Bhim Rao is still awake and then sees Rama who is sleeping on the floor, he removes the quilt from his body thinking how Ramji said that everyone in the Chawl has decided that Bhim would neither talk about Puran nor fight for him, he thinks that now everyone is sleeping it will be the best time to leave otherwise if they are awake then would not let him go, Bhim Rao apologizes to Rama stating that he is departing because the right to justice cannot be equated to the sentiments of anybody. Bhim Rao lifts his back from the table and carefully opens the door to depart while Rama is still asleep. Bhim Rao is about to walk out of the Chawl when Rama holding his hand stops him, and even the entire family is awake, Rama says that Bhim should forget whatever people from the Chawl said but e did not even consider about his family, Bhim replies he has respect for their decision which is why he decided to leave in the night when all of them are asleep otherwise they would get worried if he left, Since Bhim Rao often claims to revere his father while having little regard for him, Jija Bai claims that Bhim Rao has no esteem for his own father. The brothers of Bhim say they are not saying that Bhim is wrong; rather, they are simply curious about what he feels for them. The aunt adds that although they are all always by Bhim’s side in his quest, they are currently afraid and would prefer that he just stand by them. Ramji says he also wants to know what his son feels for him, and even Rama says what he thinks about his wife. When Bhim recalls how Puran and the other inmates were mistreated on the way to the jail, Rama advises him to be silent and accompany her inside; if not, he should ask her to release his hand. After some time, Bhim begs Rama to let go of his hand. Startled, Rama looks at Bhim and releases his grasp. Bhim continues, “Their thought of stopping him is their love for him while his tension for Puran is his duty and whenever it comes to love or duty then the duty always wins.” He adds, “I know they are stopping me so I do not suffer the problems in the future but he is trying to save Puran from the problems that he has been suffering for so many ears.” After apologising to everyone, Bhim Rao departs, and Jijabai smiles while everyone else becomes anxious.
Bhim Rao is out on his walk one night when he approaches the dentist’s door. The dentist asks him why he is there so early in the morning, to which Bhim responds that if he mentions his name, the dentist will not be interested in speaking with him. The dentist then asks if Bhim is from a lower social class, to which Bhim responds that he is just asking for justice and that no one should be able to determine what class he belongs to. However, the lawyer tells Bhim to leave since he does not want to ruin his day by seeing the face of someone from a lower social class.
Ramji turns to leave, but Jija Bai stops him, telling him that he should stay here to listen to what everyone else is saying because this is the first time that he and his son have to listen to anything. Jija Bai explains that he would get some patience to learn his lesson. In the morning, the neighbours are saying that the sun is shining brighter because everyone’s hopes have been shattered because they thought that Bhim cares for them when in reality he is just a selfish person.
Being a big lawyer, Bhim Rao tells the lawyer that it is his duty to fight for the rights of people from the lawyer class even though it is not possible. The lawyer then leaves, claiming that it is a crime in and of itself for someone to be born into his class.
The neighbours claim that Bhim Rao committed a crime when he was still a child and question whether or not everyone in the chawl has been punished for their transgressions. Ramji responds that he won’t defend Bhim this time, so the neighbours are free to punish him however they see fit and goes back to his room, worrying Rama.
