Another update for the well-liked Magisk project has been released by renowned Android developer topjohnwu. In case you didn’t know, Magisk is the most widely used tool for rooting Android handsets, covering the majority of the market. For Android 9.0+ or later, a new root hiding mode is available with the most recent Magisk v20.1 zip and Magisk Manager v7.4.0. With Magisk 20.1, the new Magisk Hide technique should resolve all issues related to root detection in Android applications and the SafetyNet test.

The Android 10 firmware, which was made available by Google and used by several OEM manufacturers, including OnePlus with Oxygen OS 10, Samsung with OneUI 2.0, Xiaomi with MIUI 11, and many more, was officially supported by the previous stable version of Magisk 20. New Magisk v20.1 includes stability enhancements as well as other helpful upgrades over previous version. Therefore, it is highly advised that you try the new Magisk Hide option from Magisk v20.1 if you’re looking for a full proof root hide (root detection) solution for banking apps like Google Pay and Samsung Pay on rooted Android devices. Additionally, Magisk v20.1 ought to pass Android 10.,9.0 Pie, or earlier’s SafetyNet test.

Additionally, the developer’s release notes provide us with some highlights of the new root hiding feature in the most recent version of Magisk Manager 7.4.0. The creator of Magisk 20.1 released a stub app with this version. Hence, the most recent version of Magisk Manager will replace the stock APK on compatible devices by downloading and customising a highly obfuscated stub APK. Next, the stub app will dynamically load and launch the complete Magisk Manager after downloading the whole software into its secret internal storage. It should be noted that not every Android 9 Pie device can use this functionality.

Additionally, the developer quotes:

On Android 9.0+, Magisk Manager will first check for compatibility before using stubs to conceal itself. The verification depends on Magisk v20.1+, which means you have to completely update and reboot in order to opt in this functionality. Restore and update Magisk Manager if it’s already hidden, upgrade Magisk, reboot, and then hide the application again.

Furthermore, there is still a workaround for incompatible devices with this new hiding-with-stub feature. Magisk Manager 7.4.0 or later, at the very least:

You may now alter the app name of the bundled Magisk Manager

To avoid signature detection, Magisk Manager will create fresh keys to sign the repackaged APK.

So as you can see, this is quite an essential upgrade if you want to conceal root on your Android devices from the root detecting applications.

You may also try it on Android 10 running premium phones as the Google Pixel 3, 2, 1, OnePlus 7 or 7 Pro, Essential phone, Samsung Galaxy S10, Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro, etc. Don’t worry, the newest Magisk v20.1 also works on smartphones running Android 10, 9 Pie, 8.0/8.1 Oreo, and prior. The newest and earlier version of Magisk can root most Android smartphones all the way down to Android 4.2.
